A Path toward Peace and Prosperity: Developing a Global Partnership for Development

In accordance with our commitment of continuing an introduction of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to young people, as we displayed at the UN Headquarters in New York on April 26-28, 2005 to approximately 400 students and young diplomats from 128 Universities and 12 UN Permanent Missions, Athgo International’s four-day forum in Yerevan discussed the importance of a global partnership for development, as highlighted in the MDG number 8, and revealed implementation strategies designed by the 200 participants.

UN Millennium Development Goal 8

  • Develop further an open trading and financial system that is rule-based, predictable and non-discriminatory
  • Address the least developed countries’ special needs
  • Address the special needs of landlocked and small island developing States
  • Deal comprehensively with developing countries’ debt problems through national and international measures to make debt sustainable in the long term
  • In cooperation with the developing countries, develop decent and productive work for youth
  • In cooperation with pharmaceutical companies, provide access to affordable essential drugs in developing countries
  • In cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies—especially information and communications technologies
